On March 17, 2025, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) added six new substance testing proposals and opened a public consultation period, inviting stakeholders to submit comments by June 2. This public review process aims to determine whether additional testing is required for registered chemicals under the REACH regulation.
According to REACH requirements, registrants must submit testing proposals (TPs) before conducting tests outlined in Annexes IX and X (corresponding to annual registration volumes of 100–1,000 tonnes/year and over 1,000 tonnes/year, respectively). After the comment period concludes, ECHA will finalize the corresponding testing requirements based on public feedback and the substance's properties.
By soliciting public input, ECHA aims to refine safety assessments and revise testing criteria to ensure thorough evaluations. Registrants will be required to perform these tests and update their safety data, guaranteeing the safe use of chemicals and promoting sustainable development in the industry.
