Recently, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW), the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), and the Ministry of the Environment (MOE) of Japan have jointly announced an update to the Priority Assessment Chemicals (PACs) list. On March 29, 2024, five substances (a total of 10 entries) were removed from the PACs list, and it was also announced that enhanced monitoring will be applied to another six chemicals on the list. On April 1, 2024, twelve new substances (comprising 31 entries) were added to the PACs list. Currently, the PACs list includes a total of 225 chemical substances.
