Ethiopia Seeks Exemption for UV-328 in Aerospace for Specific Uses

Feb 20, 2025

Following the global ban on UV-328 under the Stockholm Convention in 2023, Ethiopia recently applied for a time-limited exemption for the use of this substance in specific aerospace applications to support its industrial development and search for suitable alternatives. If approved, countries will have five years to use UV stabilizers in the production of waterproof sealing tapes and adhesives for both civilian and military aircraft. Ethiopia's proposal will be voted on at the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the Stockholm Convention, scheduled to take place from April 28 to May 9 in Basel, Switzerland.
