U.S. FDA Rescinds 35 PFAS-Related Food Contact Notifications

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced in the Federal Register that it has decided to rescind 35 food contact notifications (FCNs) related to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). These notifications had been authorized for use in oil-resistant coatings on paper and cardboard packaging. It is reported that manufacturers or suppliers have ceased production, supply, or use of these substances.
