Recently, the European Union Council officially approved a new regulation on packaging and packaging waste, which will be published in the EU Official Journal and fully implemented within 18 months after publication. The regulation focuses on setting strict thresholds for the content of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in food contact packaging, a significant measure for environmental protection. The regulation also emphasizes the importance of reuse, imposes strict restrictions on single-use packaging, and advocates reducing packaging use as much as possible.
