For lithium-ion battery packs assembled in finished products, if they are declared under the name of the finished product for export, does the corresponding finished product also fall under the management of dangerous goods (since the lithium-ion battery pack is identified as a dangerous good)?
Date:Jan 07, 2025

Hello, according to the United Nations Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, section 2.9.4: "Batteries and battery packs, batteries and battery packs installed in equipment, or batteries and battery packs packed with equipment, containing any form of lithium, are assigned to UN numbers 3090, 3091, 3480, or 3481 as appropriate". Specifically, UN number 3481 refers to "lithium-ion batteries or battery packs installed in equipment or packed with equipment (including polymer lithium-ion batteries)". Therefore, the lithium-ion battery packs assembled in finished products, as described, are subject to the regulations for the transport of dangerous goods. The finished products containing lithium-ion battery packs should be declared with accurate dangerous goods information.
