China-I would like to inquire about the planned import of barium carbonate, which has been determined by the customs technical center to fall under the definition of Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals (2015), Category 6.1, with UN number 1564 and a Chinese label. Is it necessary to add the UN marking on the packaging of the goods? Or is it possible to discuss and potentially omit the UN marking on the packaging?

Hello, the packaging of imported hazardous chemicals should have the packaging UN marking (except for bulk products). For specific detailed requirements on importing hazardous chemicals, companies can refer to the General Administration of Customs Announcement No. 129, 2020 on "Announcement on Issues Concerning the Inspection and Supervision of Imported and Exported Hazardous Chemicals and the Packaging Thereof" for more information, or consult with the port of declaration.
