Singapore to Strictly Control Formaldehyde Content in Paints from 2026
Date:Dec 26, 2024

Starting January 1, 2026, Singapore's National Environment Agency will enforce strict controls on the formaldehyde content in paints in accordance with the Environmental Protection and Management Act (EPMA). The new regulations prohibit the sale, import, or production of indoor paints with formaldehyde content of 0.01% or higher within Singapore. For outdoor or industrial paints exceeding this threshold, compliance with Annex A labeling requirements is mandatory. Companies importing paints specifically for export or re-export, although not covered by these regulations, must obtain a hazardous substances license if they manufacture or import indoor paints with formaldehyde content of 0.01% or higher.
