Taiwan Sets Import Ban on Detergents Containing Nonylphenol and Nonylphenol Polyethoxyl

The Ministry of Environment (MOENV) in Taiwan, China issued a draft notification to restrict the import of detergents containing nonylphenol (NP) and nonylphenol polyethoxyl (NPEO). The implementation will occur in two phases: starting from September 1, 2026, the import of cleaning products with more than 5% w/w NP or NPEO will be prohibited. The second phase, starting from March 1, 2027, will further restrict imports, banning those containing more than 0.1% w/w NP or NPEO.
