This document defines the terms and definitions related to the classification and labeling of chemicals, as well as the general requirements for the classification of chemical hazards, labeling, and Safety Data Sheets. It is applicable to the classification and disclosure of chemicals in accordance with the United Nations Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS). It does not apply to pharmaceuticals, food additives, cosmetics, and pesticide residues in food intended for ingestion. However, if there is a possibility that workers may be exposed or potentially exposed during transportation, the provisions of this document still need to be followed.
Alternative Standards
This standard replaces GB 13690-2009 "General rule for classification and hazard communication of chemicals" as of August 1, 2025.
