Recently, Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency (CAA) released an updated positive list concerning Food Contact Materials (FCMs). This revision includes adjustments to the usage limits and requirements for four substances, along with the addition of 13 new substances.
The specific content can be seen in the link below:
The revisions will come into effect from June 1, 2025. To facilitate a smooth transition to the new regulations, the CAA has established a transitional policy. During this period, substances that were sold, manufactured, or imported before June 1, 2020, can continue to be used within their original scope until the end of the transition period. Additionally, relevant enterprises are required to provide valid evidence such as production and import records to prove that the use of the substances complies with previous regulations, ensuring compliance.
This revision reflects Japan's ongoing efforts in food safety and its high regard for public health, while also reminding related enterprises to adjust their production and import strategies to meet the new requirements.
