On 27 November, 2023, the Specification for classification and labelling of chemicals Part 31: Precautionary label for workplace of chemicals (GB/T 30000.31-2023) was published on the National public service platform. The standard is a recommended national standard (prefixed with GB/T) and will be implemented on 1 June 2024.

GB/T 30000.31-2023 outlines the requirements, production, and application of precautionary label for workplace of chemicals. A chemical workplace refers to any location where operators may be exposed to chemicals during activities such as chemical production, handling, storage, disposal, and treatment of chemical wastes (excluding hazardous wastes), as well as the discharge of chemicals resulting from operational activities, and the maintenance, repair, and cleaning of chemical equipment and containers.

Specifications for a precautionary label:

A precautionary label shall include a product identifier, pictogram, signal word, hazard statement, physical and chemical properties, precautionary statement, pictogram of precautionary measures, information reference prompts, and emergency telephone number. GB/T 30000.31-2023 also specifies requirements for the preparation, color, font, size, and printing of precautionary label.

Among the requirements for the label, it is important to note that the horizontal size should not be less than 80 cm × 60 cm, and the vertical size should not be less than 60 cm × 90 cm. Additionally, when printing the label, a yellow and black border with a width of at least 3 mm should be added to the edge. The location and height of the label should also meet corresponding requirements. If you want the English version of GB/T 30000.31-2023, please contact us at the right corner of this website.
