This Regulation, as an amendment to the EU REACH Regulation (EU) 2023/2055, specifies the addition of restrictions on synthetic polymer microparticles (SPM, microplastics) in the REACH Annex XVII restricted substances list, including the name of the substance or group or mixture and the conditions of restriction, and provides test methods for verifying the degradability and solubility of synthetic polymer microparticles, and is applicable to the EU's restrictions on synthetic polymer microparticles. The specific restriction is that synthetic polymer microparticles must not be placed on the market as a substance on their own, or added to mixtures for achieving certain properties if the addition concentration is 0.01% or more by weight.
