Shanghai Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau

The Provisions on the Main Responsibilities, Internal Structure, and Staffing of the Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau were established in accordance with the "Notice of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council on Issuing the 'Plan for the Institutional Reform of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government'" (Document No. 17 [2008] of the General Office). The Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau was set up as a component department of the municipal government. In 2018, during the new round of institutional reform in Shanghai, the Shanghai Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau was newly established, and the relevant functions of the former Shanghai Environmental Protection Bureau were integrated into this new bureau.
