The Ministry of Transport of the People's Republic of China, commonly referred to as the Ministry of Transport, is abbreviated as MOT in English. It is a component department of the State Council of the People's Republic of China.
The Ministry of Transport was established based on the 2008 State Council institutional reform plan, building upon the former Ministry of Communications. As part of this "large ministry" reform, departments such as the Civil Aviation Administration of China and the State Post Bureau were transferred to the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Transport.
