The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (abbreviated as UNECE or ECE) was established in 1947. It is one of the five regional commissions under the United Nations Economic and Social Council, with the primary responsibility of promoting economic cooperation among its member states. The Commission has 56 members, which include not only European countries but also the United States, Canada, Israel, and Central Asian countries. The headquarters of the Commission is located in Geneva, Switzerland.
