On May 30, 2024, under the Industrial Chemicals Act 2019, the Australian Government announced the addition of three substances to the Australian Inventory of Industrial Chemicals (AIIC).
Under Section 82 of the IC Act, industrial chemicals granted an assessment certificate by the competent authority will be incorporated into the AIIC five years subsequent to the certificate's activation. Presented below are details concerning three substances recently added to the AIIC.
CAS Number | Substance Name | Listing date |
1350746-64-3 | Fatty acids, linseed-oil, polymers with conjugated sunflower-oil fatty acids, pentaerythritol, phthalic anhydride, tall-oil fatty acids and trimethylolpropane | 21 May 2024 |
381686-36-8 | 2-Propenoic acid, 2-methyl-, polymer with .alpha.-(2-methyl-1-oxo-2-propen-1-yl)-.omega.-methoxypoly(oxy-1,2-ethanediyl) and 2-propenoic acid, graft, sodium salt | 27 May 2024 |
91744-39-7 | Glycerides, C16-18 mono-, di- and tri-, hydrogenated, citrates, sodium salts | 27 May 2024 |
Inclusion in the AIIC confirms that an industrial chemical is used for industrial purposes in Australia, and importers must meet all related conditions to be classified as "listed". Businesses importing or producing industrial chemicals or products that release them must properly categorize each activity. Additionally, they are required to keep detailed records and comply with reporting obligations.
